The birth of Yaldabaoth
Friends, seekers, those who have felt in their bones that something is wrong with the story we’ve been told—I ask you to consider a possibility that will sound like madness at first, but will reveal itself through the very texts we’ve been taught to worship.
What if the God of the Bible—the one who demands blood, who drowns infants, who calls himself “jealous”—is not the true God at all? What if he is an impostor? A cosmic fraud? A prison warden masquerading as the warden’s architect?
Let me show you what the texts actually say.
In the book of Exodus, chapter 34, verse 14, this God makes a statement that should chill every theologian to their core: “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
Jealous. His name is Jealous.
I ask you: Jealous of whom? If this being is truly the supreme, the infinite, the source of all—what rival could possibly exist to provoke jealousy?
The ancient Gnostic text known as the Apocryphon of John, discovered buried in the Egyptian desert in 1945, gives us the answer. It describes a being called Yaldabaoth—literally “Child of Chaos”—born when Wisdom (Sophia) created without her divine partner. This being, the text says, had the body of a serpent and the face of a lion, with eyes that flashed like lightning. And his first words?
“I am God and there is no other.”
Sound familiar? It should. Because that’s exactly what the biblical God declares in Isaiah 45:5: “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.”
But here’s what your pastor won’t tell you: In the Gnostic account, when Yaldabaoth makes this declaration, Sophia laughs at him. She corrects him, calling him Samael—the Blind God. He doesn’t know about the realms of light above him. He is ignorant of the True God, the Invisible Spirit, the Monad from which all true light emanates.
His jealousy isn’t a virtue—it’s proof of his inferiority. He senses there is something greater, something he cannot see, and he fears you will discover it.
Let us go back to the beginning. Genesis, chapter 2, verse 17. The biblical God warns Adam: “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
He says they will die if they eat from the tree of knowledge.
Now look at Genesis 3:4-5. The serpent speaks to Eve: “Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
And what happens? Genesis 3:22—God himself confirms the serpent’s words: “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil.”
They did not die. Their eyes were opened. They became “as gods”—exactly as the serpent promised.
Who lied? The biblical God lied. The serpent told the truth.
The Apocryphon of John reveals what the church has hidden for millennia: The serpent was not Satan. The serpent was the Instructor—divine wisdom sent to awaken humanity. Yaldabaoth forbade knowledge because knowledge is liberation. The “Fall” was not a fall into sin—it was an awakening. An ascent.
As the Gospel of Philip states: “The archons wanted to deceive humanity. They took the name of what is good and they applied it to those that are not good in order that by means of the names they could deceive humanity.”
Let us speak of the character of this biblical deity. We are told he is love, but what do the texts show us?
Psalm 137, verse 9: “Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.”
This is not a description of an enemy’s cruelty—this is a blessing pronounced by the biblical God himself, promising happiness to those who smash infants against rocks.
First Samuel 15:3—God commands Saul: “Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”
Infants and sucklings. The command is explicit: Kill the babies.
Numbers 31:17-18—after the Israelites defeat the Midianites, Moses commands: “Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.”
Keep the virgin girls alive “for yourselves.” This is divinely sanctioned sexual slavery.
And let’s not forget the story of Jephthah in Judges 11. He vows that if God gives him victory, he will sacrifice the first thing that comes out of his house. God gives him victory. His daughter comes out. And Judges 11:39 tells us: “And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed.”
He burned his daughter alive. And God accepted it.
The Gospel of Philip offers this devastating assessment: “God is a man-eater... Therefore men are sacrificed to him.”
This is not the Father of Jesus. This is Yaldabaoth—the Demiurge. A being who feeds on suffering. A being who requires blood. As Hebrews 9:22 states: “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
What kind of God requires bloodshed to forgive? A demon. A false god. The Demiurge.
Now let us turn to the words of Jesus himself—words that the church tries to explain away but cannot hide.
Second Corinthians 4:4: Paul speaks of “the god of this world” who has blinded the minds of unbelievers. The Greek word here is not “devil” or “demon”—it is “god.” The god of this world.
John 12:31—Jesus says: “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
John 14:30—Jesus declares: “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”
The prince of this world has nothing in Jesus. Nothing. Jesus is not subject to this ruler.
The Apocryphon of John identifies this prince as Yaldabaoth. The biblical God is the prince of this world—the ruler of the prison, not the architect of liberation.
And in the recently discovered Gospel of Judas, Jesus makes this explicit. When the disciples declare that Jesus is the son of their God, Jesus responds: “How do you know me? Truly I say to you, no generation of the people among you will know me.”
He tells them they do not know him because they worship the wrong God. He says: “Your God”—not “our God,” not “my Father,” but “your God”—will become angry with their souls.
Judas alone understands. He tells Jesus: “I know who you are and where you’ve come from. You’ve come from the immortal realm of Barbelo, and I’m not worthy to utter the name of the one who sent you.”
Jesus comes from a higher realm. From a God who has never been named. From the Invisible Spirit that existed before Yaldabaoth’s corrupted creation.
Jesus makes a shocking claim in Matthew 11:27: “All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”
No man knows the Father. No one has seen him.
But wait—didn’t Moses see God? Didn’t the prophets speak with him face to face?
John 1:18 resolves this: “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”
No one has seen the True God. The being Moses saw was Yaldabaoth. The burning bush, the thunder on the mountain, the smoke and fire—these are the theatrics of the Demiurge, not the presence of the Infinite Light.
The Gospel of Philip confirms this: “The apostles said to the disciples, ‘May our entire offering obtain salt.’ They called [the God of the Jews] ‘the God of the Jews,’ though he was not.”
He was not. Let those words sink in.
Yaldabaoth and the Archons
If the biblical God is the prison warden, what is Jesus’s mission? To bust open the prison. To reveal the exit. To remind us of who we truly are.
Luke 17:20-21—when asked when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus responds: “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation... behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
Within you. Not in the clouds. Not after death. Not in some distant heaven. Within you right now.
The Gospel of Thomas, saying 3, expands this: “If those who lead you say to you, ‘See, the kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you... Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you.”
The kingdom is here. The kingdom is now. But we cannot see it because we are asleep. Because we have forgotten.
The Authentic Logos—another banned text from Nag Hammadi—describes the soul as having “forgotten her origin, fallen into the body, become trapped in matter and surrounded by enemies and attacked by ignorance.”
This is our condition. Not original sin—original forgetfulness. We have forgotten that we are divine sparks from the Pleroma. We have accepted the lie that we are mere creatures, born in filth, deserving of hell unless we grovel before the Demiurge.
How do we escape? Not through faith. Not through obedience. Not through the church.
Through knowledge. Through gnosis.
The Gospel of Thomas, saying 39: “The Pharisees and the scribes have taken the keys of knowledge (gnosis) and hidden them. They themselves have not entered, nor have they allowed to enter those who wish to.”
The keys are knowledge. The passwords to pass the archons after death. The recognition of our true identity.
The First Apocalypse of James records Jesus giving his brother the specific passwords to defeat the rulers: “When the archon asks, ‘Who are you?’ You say, ‘I am a son and I am from the father... I am from the pre-existent father.’”
Claim your divinity. Assert your origin. The archons have no authority over those who know who they are.
The Gospel of Philip declares: “Those who say they will die first and then rise are in error. If they do not first receive the resurrection while they live, they will not receive anything when they die.”
Resurrection is not a future event. It is awakening now. It is the reunion of soul and spirit—the bridal chamber within.
And what of Christianity? The religion founded in Jesus’s name?
The Gospel of Philip warns us: “The archons wanted to deceive humanity... They took the name of what is good and they applied it to those that are not good.”
They took the name “God” and applied it to Yaldabaoth. They took the name “Church” and built institutions of control. They took the name “Salvation” and made it submission.
The Authentic Logos states: “Even he who hears ‘God’ does not think of what is right, but he thinks of what is not right... The names that are heard pertain to the world to deceive.”
When you hear “God,” you think of the biblical deity—the jealous, wrathful, blood-demanding tyrant. You do not think of the Invisible Spirit. You do not think of the Infinite Light. The names have been hijacked. The labels have been swapped.
Marcion of Sinope, in the second century, compiled the world’s first Bible. He concluded that the Creator God of the Old Testament was a flawed, evil being—and that Jesus came from a higher God entirely. For this, he was condemned as a heretic. His Bibles were burned. His followers were persecuted.
But history proves him right. The God who demands genocide is not the Father of Jesus. The God who accepts burnt sacrifices is not the God of love. The God who creates a world of suffering and calls it “very good” is either incompetent or malicious—or he is not God at all.
I leave you with this. The Gospel of Thomas, saying 50: “If they say to you, ‘Where did you come from?’, say to them, ‘We came from the light, the place where the light came into being on its own accord... We are its children, the elect of the living father.’”
You are not a sinner. You are not a slave. You are not a creature of dust subject to the whims of a cosmic tyrant.
You are a spark of the Infinite. You are a child of the Light. You are the divine presence that Yaldabaoth fears, trapped temporarily in matter but destined to return to the Pleroma.
The prison only holds you while you believe the warden is God. Wake up. Remember. The kingdom is within you. The light is your birthright. And the Demiurge’s days are numbered.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
But first—you must know which is which.
